The International Standards Organization (ISO) is the world's largest developer of standards. Since 1947, they have published more than 13,700 International Standards. ISO 9001:2000 is one of ISO's most widely known and successful standards. It provides a framework for the quality of an organization's products and services. It has been implemented in more than half a million organizations, in more than 60 countries. The ISO 9001:2000 standard and the ISO 14001:1996 standard have been aligned in order to enhance the compatibility of the two standards. ISO 14001:1996 specifies requirements for Environmental Management Systems.
